STAR TREK 2d20

Question in regard to how functional it is.

Just wondering how functional the ruleset is in FG.

Since trying to decide on what system to use as a base to build my setting into (yes I know GURPS requires alot of work to build a setting from ground up.). Between SW, SWN, GURPS or heavily modified Starfinder.

So wondering how functional it is on FG.

I am a brand new user to FG, but a longtime GURPS player and GM. I am been using the GURPS ruleset for a few weeks, and so far, it works rather well. There isn't as much automation as compared to the D&D rulesets, partly because Steve Jackson Games does not allow "automation" as part of their fair use policy, but there is enough to make it work.

I use GCS (https://gurpscharactersheet.com) to create and maintain my characters, and then export them to FG (this feature will be available to the public in the next release of GCS https://github.com/richardwilkes/gcs/pull/103) . Or you can use GCA.

Personally, I don't recommend using FG as the final repository of the character information, since it does not have ANY support for character creation. You would have to do all of the math by hand.

Also, I highly recommend "TokenTool" (https://www.rptools.net/toolbox/token-tool/). It has been a great help in creating HEX based tokens.

Right guess it'll be a hard pass for now. Guess I'll fall back on cannibalizing 5e/Starfinder and take inspiration from various other systems for dealing with setting wise.

Like the way GURPS is for building but without automation its too much work for me.

Whoa... don't get me wrong. The RuleSet offers a lot of help, and it is customized for GURPS.

You should watch some of the FG GURPS videos to see if it offers what you want. Check out Mook running GURPS (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILVXlbfcQcM) with Ronnke as one of the players (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNNhn5tUC30). So you can see both interfaces (GM and players).

Hmmm fair enough. I'll print out the PDF's I have and see. Problem is ever since started looking at alternate systems that can use on FG also been suddenly figuring out what to do so might do both. Since was hitting walls with Starfinder and now starting to figure how to tear it apart and design it. lol And didn't meant to sound aggressive.

The GURPS ruleset is very good. It has been designed specifically to not have a lot of automation based on SJG preferences.
It does work very well though.

Well, in reality, most of the needed "automation" for GURPS is in character creation, and there is an interface between GCA (which has all the needed automation for character creation / update) and this ruleset.

I started a GURPS campaing at the beginning of the year and up to now I only had minor problems, but other than those me and my friends are playing happily

FYI, in the next release of GCS (https://gurpscharactersheet.com/), you will be able to export to Fantasy Grounds also (https://github.com/richardwilkes/gcs/pull/103).

I should be playing Gurps sometime in the future with some friends. It's going to be a cyberpunk campaign but using GURPS.
