How do you use Location entries?
I am working on a new homebrew campaign for the first time in a few years. There is a new "Locations" option (I'm using the D&D 5e ruleset if this isn't an option in all rulesets) for writing descriptions. In the past I would just use story entries for everything.
How are my fellow GMs using these "Location" entries? Are these story points that more often get shared with the players? Or simply a means to organize a collection of story entries that relate to a overarching group? For instance, the various vendors in a town location?
Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

Welcome to the FG forums!
I believe it allows use of the bastion functionality in the DMG I believe, maybe someone who uses that can provide more information.
Some discussion here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forum...3125-Locations
Other rulesets may provide different location types. For example, the Pathfinder 2 (PFRPG2) ruleset provides various types to mimic the format used within Paizo products - see here: https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassia...RPG2+LocationsFG Wiki: How to Compile the FG Logs
Private Messages: My inbox is forever filling up with PMs. Please don't send me PMs unless they are actually private/personal messages. General FG questions should be asked in the forums - don't be afraid, the FG community don't bite and you're giving everyone the chance to respond and learn!

Locations does have a different functionality in different rulesets.
In Traveller we can set Sub-Locations that can reference back and forth, appear on a list of all locations for a system (Location), etc.
One way that I found Locations to work for my game is to combine Locations, Sub-Locations and Grouping. The filters at the bottom of the Locations dialog box then can fine tune things down so you can find 'all the locations with a type of 'Planet - Gas Giant' in the Trojan Reach Sector'
Also use all the functionality in those dialog boxes. GM notes, images, etc.We do not stop playing because we grow old.

I only use locations for geographic locations. I haven't yet tried to use them for places that I would want to have more interactive information; like read aloud text, encounter links, parcel links etc.
So, I use them for star systems, planets, cities. But in a dungeon I do not use them, because I want those other things and prefer the open nature of stories.
Does that help?

I like to use it for dungeons to keep track of it as a whole if I'm running a solo session or if it's homebrew. I've toyed with the record for many scenarios to see how best to possibly expand on it as a feature.
