    The Story Games Names Project - FG Module on The Forge

    The Story Games Names Project
    Compiled by volunteers from story-games.com
    Fantasy Grounds Conversion by Mark (Marmus) Gaffney

    https://forge.fantasygrounds.com/shop/items/2079/view

    This Fantasy Grounds module contains 824 individual 1d20 rollable tables of names. The Reference Book contains all text from the PDF version. With a multitude of explanations on the use and structure of names for various cultures. Include many fun extra tables on topics like foods, places, customs of historic and fictional cultures, etc. A huge collection of names and related lists from dozens of different cultures, times, and places. Everything from Maori, Russian, and Chinese to Hobo.

    From the foreword:
    "Jason Morningstar, a man who clearly understands the value of an evocative name, got the idea of harnessing the awesome might of Story-Games.com, a community of story-oriented gamers, to put together a whole book of name lists drawn from different cultures. This volume is the fruit of that effort, and I have to say I’m impressed with the results. I knew about the project, but until Jason asked me to write this introduction I hadn’t realized that in amongst the more pedestrian “Byzantine Greek” and “Sengalese” lists were gems like “Creepy Campus,” “Owlbear,” and “Ridiculous Hobo.” There’s tons of great inspiration here, and hardly a Bob among them."

    Feedback on improving this module and adding to this module is welcome!!

    While I do not really think we need to add new names, I would think we, as a community, can add things like:
    • New tables that roll on the existing tables to get unique results.
    • Story Templates to provide unique results and combinations of results.

    Or, if you really want to add more names, I am up for that also.

    Also note, I added to original post description....each FG Table includes the Creative Commons License information, so developers can copy these tables directly in their own projects.

    I don't know how to make a template but instead of adding more names, how about adding other type of words (adjectives, verbs, etc) and make the template just like in Gamers - What are we Playing?

    i.e: Instead of; "1. The PCs are streetwise con artists just trying to get by who, with Big, Fraggin’ Guns, fight people who look at them the wrong way for pocket change in 2150 A.D." in 1 sentence,

    Using

    Table 1: Adjectives

    * streetwise
    * quick
    * etc

    And Table 2: Jobs

    * con artist
    * street fighter
    * kardashian show cameraman
    * etc

    and let the template combine these things?

    For that, I recommend two items from DriveThruRPG:
    "Grammar Fuel: Parts of Speech" and "Grammar Fuel: 12,000 Phrases & Idioms" both by Ken Wickham

    Both are very good. I have some of both converted into Fantasy Grounds for my own use.
