Thread: Effects Tool

    Effects Tool

I wasn't sure where to post this suggestion.

How hard would it be to create an in-game tool to help build effects? This is the biggest PITA of running is creating effects.

i was thinking of something menu driven where you select the effects you need (saves, skills, attack, damage, etc), enter values (+1, -1, +2, etc), enter a name, then the tool creates the string that you copy and paste into the effect list.

Maybe i am dreaming here but there have been several times where the game has ground to a halt while we figure out how to program some effect.

We play pathfinder and as most know by the time you reach high level, you may have several effects running on you with all the buffs and debuffs you need for large boss fights.

    It was jus a thought.

    Thanks for the consideration.

That would be surely a nice addition, increasing accessibility for people who struggle memorizing the syntax and/or are new to FG

We played with that at one point; but the resulting window wasn't really any easier. At least by pointing people to the wiki, there are examples they can use. We may revisit in the future if we get more ideas.

    Completely agree.

I did something similar in the Advanced Effects extension. It isn't the best way but with the simplistic control tools available it works.

I've not spent a lot more time on it and the functionality depends on the ruleset but it looks sorta like what you're talking about.

Feature enhancements are tracked on the wish list. If not already there, add it. https://fg2app.idea.informer.com/

I've been using Celestian's extension for about 6 weeks. It may not do exactly what the OP is requesting, but it made it a lot easier to put in effects for me. Celestian's extension + https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/...php/5E_Effects made things a lot easier to put in effects and adds a level of versatility. It's become one of my must have extensions.
