Can a battle map be locked in place
Once I've sized a battle map to fit my FG working space, it there any way to lock to map in place so it isn't resized or inadvertently moved when I'm may need to move an NPC's or Player's token on the map. Seems like I do this at least once or twice every gaming session, most often with minor negative effect but other times it can really mess up the game flow.

No, it either floats; or can be locked into one of the maximized positions.

When you first open a battle map it opens in a "window", clicking the expander arrows near the top right will increase it to pushed to the background. Then doing it again filled the whole background. Doing it once more will put it into a "TV" mode (do not suggest doing that unless you are using a TV for minis).
I always used the 2nd one, which makes it a filled pushed to the background, you can't move it this way. you can open other images, or even maps (as they will appear in window at first).
This works really well for streaming also as you always have your "map" area in the same area.
It will cause other windows to be "over the top" of maps, so just be mindful of where you are placing windows as they can cover the map and you need to close them or move them to see the map. Unlike the other way you can click on the map, and it will "pull" it to the top.
However, personally, I like this better as the map no longer covers up windows I needed too.

I don’t think I’ve ever pressed the expander more than once, so I’m going to try this.
From some quick searches, I also haven’t found anything about “TV mode.” I’ll keep looking, but am always hoping for improvements for presenting in an in-person game or hybrid game.Fantasy Grounds Unity on macOS Monterey (v12) with an Intel Mac

Press the expander mode more than once. That will get you to what you might consider TV mode. If not, you can always use the free extension FG Forge - View Item

Silly me, I already have that extension in my Forge account.
Although I’m not really trying to set up a TV on a tabletop, so much as presenting the map to the players with a monitor facing their direction.Fantasy Grounds Unity on macOS Monterey (v12) with an Intel Mac

Drag the map record shortcut to your hotkey bar so if you accidentally close the window, you can just click the hotkey to restore it. If you are worried about moving a layer accidentally, you can lock individual layers in any image.
