I tested in RMC Character Law and 5E Player's Handbook and got the same results when sharing a link from a player instance in chat. They both gave this message: "Only records which you own can be shared." I don't know what Shadowdark does differently for it so can't say what the differences are.

No. You can only share things that you own; and since players don't 'own' anything (only the GM owns things) they can't share links. However (And I don't know if this is available in all rulesets) there is a 'Output record to chat' button at the top right of any window for things like items, feats, spells, etc. On pressing that it does what it says on the tin and puts whatever text was in the window to chat. This isn't available for book or story entries.
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

Players own their PC sheets and any Notes they create. Depending on how the ruleset is set up, they may be able to share links on their own PC sheets; but not from modules.
