Story loads Character Law module
Hi All
I noticed today (not been on FG for about a year) in the Story tab the Character Law and Creatures and Treasure modules were loaded as read only files. Curious if anyone has this issue. I reported to technical support but they said not a bug which seems odd.
Cheers

This is expected if the books are reference module. Generally anything that is DM only and not an adventure module will be locked. If you want to edit anything then you should make a copy and edit the copy rather than editing the original. (Now I don't know this ruleset nor do I know these modules - but it sounds like they are reference modules designed to be used by the DM).
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

@Zacchaeus
I would expect all four of the included rule books to be read-only.
Character Law: Rules and examples for building a character (roughly equivalent to the PHB)
Spell Law: Rules and Spell Lists for the various spell casting Professions from Character Law
Arms Law: Combat Rules, attacks and critical strikes for various weapons
Creatures and Treasures: Creatures (everything from mice all the way up to dragons) and Treasures for adventurers to find, along with some rules to create treasures (mostly for the Gamesmaster (GM), since DM is trademarked by WotC, so only they can use it).
Hopefully that helps out a bit.

From what you are saying it sounds like the only module which should be read only is the Creatures and Treasure one since (again from the sound of it) the other books would be player modules. But again I don't know the ruleset so probably have to await a response from one of the devs.

Not really, all four books are really reference modules. You would not necessarily want to modify anything in them directly. While Character Law does have Professions and Races in it, creating new ones is trivial (copy an existing one and modify as necessary). You can also modify anything on the character sheet as necessary, so it's not necessary to modify it in the reference books.

Player modules (that is modules which are designed primarily to be used by players, and therefore default to shared in the module activation window) are not usually locked since players can't edit anything in a module. So, although they may be reference modules, that in itself doesn't mean that they should be locked.

I am confused so Zacchaeus are you saying that something like the 5E Player's Handbook should have the reference manual and story entries unlocked (not read-only)?

Our recommendation for all developers is that:
* Core Rulebook, Settings and Accessory modules are read-only.
* Adventure modules are NOT read-only.

Thanks. These are all core rulebooks. I have made some things so they can be modified like races, professions, etc. since RM has so many different ways to run it.

Is having the player mods read only the reason players are not able to share a page link in chat. When ever our DM in Shadowdark (I know different Ruleset but will be playing RM Sunday!!!) asks us to share a page for a rules reference, we are not able to do so.
