Adventure Module Format
I have a question for the GMs out there....
As a community developer I have to create a Reference Guide for any books I convert and only creating the Reference Guide is fine for things like a Central Supply Catalog or an Alien Archive, but my question is more about Adventures.
I have run a lot of Pathfinder and Pathfinder 2e campaigns and always preferred sequential Story Entries for the prewritten stuff I used and rarely, if ever, opened the Reference Guide. I find that just using Story Entries takes up a lot less space on my screens when running things.
When I converted Mysteries of the Ancients and Secrets of the Ancients I made Story Entries and converted those into the Reference Guide using an FGU Extension.
So...finally to my question:
Do you as GMs still like to have story entries for adventures or does the Reference Guide suffice?Last edited by Stargrove; March 14th, 2025 at 02:44.

I only ever use the book page entries. The indexing is way better, the readability is better, they can now be copied and edited, everything that was in a story entry or that you could do with a story entry you can do with an advanced entry and more. Pages can be also now be resized to be much smaller than they used to be. Overall there's now no need for simple story entries at all (and I suspect in due course they'll disappear completely).
When developing I don't need to create simple story entries and advanced story entries like in the past - so it saves time (yes, I know Author could create advanced pages from simple story entries but it didn't do it as well as creating them from scratch).Last edited by Zacchaeus; March 14th, 2025 at 10:21. If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

Yeah, at this point, I only use the reference manual pages. They have their issues, but they're better than story pages, IMO.
The tiny little arrows to move the blocks around kills me.

My main usage is sharing a page to the players so they have a reference to specific rules or lore.
My wish is that there were different pages for players and for GMs. So when I share it does not reveal something behind the scenes.
I know I could create my own pieces like that as needed. This would just make it smoother. We do not stop playing because we grow old.
