Depends. If you're a player - nothing, you just need to find a GM who's running a game to give it a whirl.

If you're a GM, you need one of the following:

    1) The Savage Worlds Ruleset (either Revised edition version or the SWEX version). Personally I would recommend the SWEX version, as it has the most up to date version of the Savage Worlds rules (Link to SWEX Ruleset at the DA Store)

    2) The brand new Shaintar Ruleset (link to the DA Store). This is basically a "reskin" of the normal Savage Worlds ruleset, to give it a more fantasy flavour. In order to get full use of this though, you will need a copy of the SWEX Rules Modules, which are not included in the Shaintar Ruleset.

Once you have one of the "core" products, you can then look into any of the number of Settings which we have already converted (which include, 50 Fathoms and Rippers). We also have a fair selection of adventure modules converted as well, and are in the process of putting together some of the One Sheets (short, two page adventures) that Pinnacle produce.

Hopefully that helps you out some, if not, feel free to PM me, and we can arrange a possible time to give you a quick tour of the Savage experience

Actually you can get away with just using the Revised Rules (there are two spell lists in the rules to support both the Revised and SWEX rules).

That said Shaintar was deisgned with the SWEX rules in mind (i.e. new damage rules), but it can still be used with the Revised Ruleset.
My players just defeated an army, had a dogfight with aliens, machine-gunned the zombies, stormed the tower, became Legendary and died heroically

Yours are still on combat round 6

Thank you both for the information. I looked at DA, and I presume the 'revised' ruleset is the version 2.0 product 'Savage Worlds Ruleset for Fantasy Grounds II?' This does look intriguing. Somehow, I thought Savage Worlds was a d20 product or at least based on the 3.5 srd, but nothing at DA I could find would lead me to believe it's anything but a completely different game.

You are correct in Savage Worlds being a non d20 game. If you are interested in getting the SW ruleset you want to get full version of the ruleset (not the upgrade) found here: https://www.digitaladventures.net/ca...products_id=70

That is the latest version and includes the Savage Explorer Edition rules modules. The "revised" rules are no longer sold - though maybe they should be for completeness. The differances are very small anyway except for melee damage which can be converted on the fly.

If you are interested in Savage Worlds I suggest you swing by your local hobby shop and ask for the Savage Worlds Explorer rulebook. It's only 10 bucks or so. You can also see the Player Test Drive rules (PDF) here: https://www.peginc.com/Downloads/SWEX/TD06.pdf

Pinnacle makes Savage Worlds and you can check out there site here: https://www.peginc.com/

Probably drowned you in too much detail, eh?

    Detail

No, not at all. One of the great things about the gaming community is that people are very helpful to one another, particularly if it involves something they are very interested in. Thanks for all the info. I believe I'll buy it. Even if I don't decide to run it, I can get FGII programming ideas from it.
