I just picked up the book and I will be running a game for my players. We're getting close to the end of our current campaign in 5e, and as preparation, I'm attempting to roll up some 0-level characters to get a feel for how it works. When I randomly roll a class and drop that into the character sheet it automatically goes to level 1. How would I go about creating a level 0 character in this fashion? Would I not drop the class onto the character sheet, or do they not get a class? The random character page says to, "Roll your stats, background, and class talants...", which is confusing, because according to the level 0 character page, they don't get a class, so how can they have class talents.

Any help would be appreciated.

Generally, level 0 characters have not yet attained Hero status and therefore have no class. They are merely their background.

From the SD guide:

0-level characters start with:
• Stats, pg. 15
• Choice of ancestry, pg. 16
• Hit points equal to their
Constitution modifier
(minimum 1)
• Background, pg. 26
• Choice of alignment, pg. 27
• Starting gear, pg. 33

I'm getting the hang of it. Thanks. Just one thing though. Would it be possible to add a link to the background table on the Random Characters page?

I built a Half-orc Fighter, but the Grit feature doesn't appear to be working when rolling a strength check. I know it's not a big deal, as I can just hit the ADV button.

Shadowdark crashes and the ruleset has disappeared off the list when creating a new campaign since I updated today.
