Webm format is recommended for tokens, those are animated. If you can export to webm instead that would be better (NOTE: Use the VP8 codec, not VP9).

Codec stands for coder/decoder. It's a way to encode images or video or audio so that it takes up less space.

VP8 and VP9 are codecs for webm.

The Unity engine underlying Fantasy Grounds only supports VP8 at this time.

Your token showing blank indicates that it is most likely using the VP9 codec, which is why it shows blank.

You'll need to use one of the methods listed in the thread to convert it from VP8 to VP9.

Shutter encoder, handbrake, or using the script will help you convert the file the proper format for Fantasy Grounds.

FGU will also work with animated webp files. I convert Hero Forge's gifs to webp using GIMP.

@RedPanda3946 - I've used Hero Forge a long time ago and had no idea that you could do this.

Tell me, do you pay for the 3D Digital output to achieve this?

I would love to see a sample or two to know if it's worth paying for.

I could be wrong, but I believe the gif on Hero Forge is the token just rotating.

There are several portrait options with the Pro level. I believe there are some other benefits as well but the specifics escape me at the moment as it's been a bit since I used it last.
It is also correct that the animated portraits are just an orbit around the mini.

Here's a sample webp. (I had to zip it because the forum won't take a webp attachment.) The original gif was about 14.5 MB. The converted webp is 2.3 MB.
