    Editing Module

    Hello,

I am new to FG and Pathfinder and am running the Beginner Box adventure for friends. Looking ahead, I purchased the Troubles in Otari adventures to run next. There are parts of the pre-built adventures that I would like to modify. I can do so in the Troubles campaign, but the changes are permanent only within that campaign. For example, as I am learning FG and PF2e together, sometimes I create test campaigns so I can see how things work. However, module changes in one campaign don't show up in the test campaigns. I suppose the module data is instanced for a specific campaign setup. Is there a way to change parts of a module and have those changes affect the source module data?

    Thank you.

You're assumptions are correct. If you want to use your changes to a module in more than one campaign, then you need to export your changes to a module. When you export, only the changes you made in that module will be exported (not the content of the purchased module). I recommend you use a "Development" campaign for making your changes, see the link in my sig for best practices that includes info on such best practices.

You can't export changes made to a base module record into another module. I think Lord Entrails comments assume you've made copies of records from a module in a campaign - as you can export records in a campaign. But if you've edited the base module record, then that can't be exported into a module. Those changes are stored in an XML file in the campaign moduledb directory - the filename is the name of the module; you could copy that XML file from one campaign's moduledb directory to another campaign's moduledb directory - and this will have the effect of copying the changes you made for that module from one campaign to another.

Yes, thanks Trenloe, you need to make copies of stories etc. that you intend to change. That should be detailed in the guide I reference, but is better to be clear about it upfront
