    [Bug or User Error?] Shotguns in Deadlands dealing negative damage.

    I don't know if this is a bug, or if I am just doing something wrong as I have never played SWADE/Deadlands, but when I was testing combat and using a shotgun it would always roll negative damage. I tried attacking from all ranges except extreme and got the same results. Screenshot is with all extensions other than the necessary Deadlands one disabled.

    What did you do to that poor shottie?!

    Does the problem persist when you create a fresh campaign?

    Did you edit the shotgun? The damage should look like this:
    1-3d6+1
    Your screenshot suggests it might be looking like this:
    -3d6+1

    That leading "1" is very important.

    It is a fresh campaign with zero modifications made. That screenshot was 3 sperate shotguns all dropped directly from the Item section.

    Here is the combat tab listing, the read only Items page stats and the stats of the shotgun from the characters inventory.

    You've found the extremely rare shotgun of healing!

    The damage range was broken previously:
    Update 4.1.14 Shotgun damage is broken

    I suspect the recent changes to dice rolls in Core RPG broke it. The HW modifier is still working this time, so it's just the damage range.

    wrong syntax, the shotgun does 1d6 to 3d6, by default the damage is set to 1 minus 3d6 damage. Depending on the range, modify the damage to reflect the different ranges. Short 3d6, med 2d6, long 1d6 for buckshot all ranges for slugs are 1d10.

    The syntax is correct. It's a Savage Worlds specific thing. It's just temporarily broken due to recent Core RPG changes.
    There's so much to test when changes are made that things get missed.
    Ikael will likely have this fixed pretty soon.

    So, you're saying the shotgun has been programmed, when not broken, to check the range distance and adjust the damage from 1-3d6 accordingly?

    What if you're not using tokens, "Theatre of the mind", so to speak?

    Looks like it defaults to whatever it's set to, 3d6 in your case
