Can a spell effect force an ability check

Is there a way to use the Spell Action Effect to force an ability score check by the target (similar to a saving throw) to avoid the effect?

    example:

Make a strength save or be knocked prone

No, not at the moment Has to be done manually, so, someone announces the check and the opposite actor has to roll it
