Laying down wall, door and window layers in FGU on an imported map
Hi everyone. I'm currently DMing Curse of Strahd (D&D 5e) and finding a huge need to create battlemaps for the many areas of likely combat for which there are no maps, or which the maps are basically inadequate. It's time-consuming but also rewarding, however I'm having real trouble once I've created a map, say in Inkarnate, once I've exported the file and dropped it into a new image file. I can create the map, lay down grid and even manage LOS OK, but for some reason I'm having trouble in getting the walls, doors and windows of buildings to operate as fixed barriers, or toggleable barriers (doors), for my PCs when the characters are dropped onto the map. I'd really appreciate some help, or pointers to existing Youtube tutorial videos on this specific point. Many thanks in advance!

I suggest starting with the wiki steps:

and if that isn't enough, checking out the FG channel on YouTube, in particular this one:

We’d need some screenshots I think to diagnose your issue since there’s no reason for it not to work. Also you have switched on line of sight in the right hand panel in play mode right?
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

Thanks to you both for responding - and apologies if I have got multiple threads running. It wasn't my intention.
Anathemort - many thanks I'll have a look at the wiki. Much appreciated.
Zacchaeus - I think the heart of the issue is the need to lay down new wall layers, and then use the LOS pointers so that the FGU map recognises the wall as a wall. I had LOS working fine, on a map I used last week, but it still didn't stop players walking right through a 'wall' which was annoying.

I’d still need to see some screenshots I think to understand what it is you have done. Generally you only have one occluder layer. I wonder if you are attaching occluders to different layers and so you don’t have a cohesive and joined up line of sight.

Hi Zacchaeus - here's the screen shot. I've built the map in Inkarnate, and then dropped it into a new image in FGU, so the walls etc are not a pre-existing paint layer in FGU. What's here now is a new wall layer, with doors etc. I'm hoping this will work - but appreciate your time in looking it over.

You don’t need to create a new layer to add occluders. Just import your map and then draw the occluders on the map. However I believe what you have done should still work. One thing though and is not easy to see on a tablet but make sure all your occluders are snapped together with no gaps. It looks to me that some of the doors and windows aren’t joined to the walls which means that tokens can pass through the gaps.

Yes I think that's a problem. I'm new to it, and don't use the 'snap' hover tool at all - which has caused problems with PCs slipping through gaps. I'll give that a go. Thanks for looking at this - I appreciate it.
