Great review, not just because I agree with so much of it, but because I believe it to be fair, well written, and insightful. I hope you share it elsewhere like on r/vtt etc.

    Very comprehensive. Thanks.

The community differences between FG and Roll20 can not be emphasized enough.

Wow what a great and completely right review. I've used all these systems and I would fully agree with everything here. This is on the nose. Thanks for writing it up.

Really well done. Thanks for taking the time to post such detailed comparisons. I found it very useful and definitely in line the experience I do have with FG and Foundry in particular.

I'm not on reddit but if anyone would care to repost or post links to there that would be grand

The sent a link to my players and then realized the GM map for tomorrows game is used as the example of how FGU looks now! I had to warn my players not to look!

I also think this is a great review of the three VTT! Thank you!

Show them the map and scare the wits out of them since that's my homebrew encounter on top of it with a CR20 vampire/lich and all his minions in it!

    Great reviews, thanks for that!

I may not fully agree with all parts, especially where Foundry is concerned, but that is mostly because your reviews are centered around DnD 5e rulesets and overall just trifles. The reviews seem exhaustive and fair enough.

One important point I feel missing: *All* players need to create a FG account now to install/run FGU, which is another hurdle to draw players in. And once the account server goes down (bankruptcy case you mentioned) you cannot install the software anymore and thus may be locked out of your purchases. The latter is something all contenders have to deal with, though (e.g. Foundry is very protective of its licenses per hardware and concurrent games running).

Great review on the vtts. As someone who has been using both Foundry and FG extensively for the last 18 months I'd like to add that the experience may vary depending on the Ruleset you are using.
5e on fg or foundry are really well automated, except that fg has official support but many features on fg requires you to buy community extensions or write one yourself, whereas on foundry you can get all for free.

Now I've had great experiences on other systems in foundry that are fully automated out of the box, like Warhammer 4th which I like to emphasize that is better automated than anything I've seen on any vtt.

You just can't beat Swade on fg. It's good on Foundry, but in fg it's just too good.

Pathfinder2e is really well automated on foundry and being it a completely srd system, it doesn't require any purchase at all to get it running.

I've had bad experiences too, with rulesets I actually bought officially there, like dcc that is so poorly automated that I decided to bring my games back to fg. But it's evolving little by little.

I'm the end, I got both vtts and my choice to run a game is often decided by which vtt does which ruleset better.
