Thread: I am helpless

    I am helpless

I just cant figure out how to do what i want for my campaign. To state it simply, I want to make a reusable homemade TILE with line of sight and lighting already included so i can arrange them on several MAPS. I have been able to make images which are in the image folder but not use them in the assets. Is there a good video which explains this using the current version of FGU?

To note, I would gladly buy an underdark style mushroom forest tile pack but if there is one, I have been unable to find it...

Doug walked though how to create a tile pack with examples in FGU the hour long video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaFvDapOlL4

Keep in mind this was recorded a year ago so, there are more LOS features now - but the process of creating the module has not changed. Basically you have to build a custom module by hand that has an image folder that holds the asset images and their LOS data in an xml file (if you want the images to have LOS data when stamped).

Ah, perhaps the part you are missing is that you want to create one tile in an image then add LOS. The thing that is new is that you want to right click the layer with the LOS and select export to get the LOS file. Then just put the image and xml together in your custom module's image folder?

I think ive done that but it isnt in the assets and it allows me to open it as a map but not use it as a tile. I am missing things. and I dont understand the folder system.

There have been changes since that video but the principle is the same. You need to import all of the images into a new campaign; then draw your Line of sight; then export that line of sight (and lighting data) by right clicking on the map layer in the right hand panel and export metadata. Then construct your module in a folder which includes your images folder with the images and the exported xml file in it; a definition file and if you want a thumbnail icon. Select all of that and zip into a zip file then rename the .zip to .mod and put it into your modules folder in FGData. Once you've done that your image should show up in assets > images in any other campaign

Here's how to add your images into your campaign (first video) https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forum...112#post492112
Here's how to extract the xml file https://fantasygroundsunity.atlassia...ta+for+Modules
And here's how to create a module (it's about tokens but the principle is the same) https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forum...389#post382389
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

i am following the instructions step by step. Is there a reason my images folder is named images and not images and maps?
