Thread: Choppy dice

    Choppy dice

I tried browsing around and found a few posts about this, but never actually found a working solution:

Rolling dice animations are very choppy/laggy. They still work so it's not an unbearable issue, but it's still pretty annoying to see. So I wanted to know if someone else has had this problem and if they found a working solution.

I already tried disabling antialiasing and various other things from my video card control panel, but nothing changes (it's about a month or so it's like this). Oh, I have internet issues lately if it helps (I mean, it shouldn't since dice roll animation are localized but you never know :P)

    Thank you

I don't think I've seen any one solution either.

Make sure you don't have cross platform compatibility checked in settings (or if it isn't checked try checking it). If your computer has a built in graphics and a separate graphics card make sure FG is not using the built in card. Make sure graphic drivers are up to date (sometimes dialling back graphics drivers can help). And playing with thhe more advanced settings on the graphics cards have also helped some people.
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

I believe some folks had success by removing and manually installing DirectX 9. (Note its a pretty old version, but you should still be able to find it).

If you have more than one graphics card, try swapping from one to the other - and then play with the 3d settings on the setup for the card you're using.

Dice rolling and results can be delayed with a problematic network connection when players are connected - as the GM instance needs to communicate to all player instances during dice rolling. But if you get the same issues with just the GM instance running with no players connected, then that won't be the main cause.

Yeah I get it without players too... Hopefully next week I'll have a working connection and I'll try if it changes anything

Also, make sure that you don't have any overlays running on FGC, including Steam, GeForce, XBox, etc. Turn them all off.

Well I don't really use steam (I don't even have it installed)... Overlays... I already disabled AMD's and I guess I have nothing else like that... But to be sure I'm now gonna check each and every little program my computer has installed >.<

that's not it either. The only thing I know is that this issue started when I began having issues with my internet (altough I doubt it could actually be because of that)
