I'll also mention that the community as a whole is better than what I have seen on Roll20. Plus Roll20 actively removes ANY mention (even good comparisons) to any type of competition from their forums. This discussion could NOT happen in their forums.

The biggest major problem is expense. The ultimate version, compared to a r20 subscription, is worth it for me, but it's an expense. Also, it gets addictive. I've bought a TON of books, supplements, map packs, not to mention modules and extensions. I've poured a lot of money into my hobby.

Actually Fantasy ground after 3 years can be a lot cheaper the r20. There is a video on Youtube called "Roll20 Vs Fantasy Grounds | Which is REALLY the Cheapest?" that lays it out very nicely. It does cover a lot of different scenarios, including some where a just player user would prefer r20.

About it only being on your computer, use a cloud storage system like one drive. As long s your data is to large it is free.

That video was a big part of why I decided on FG. That and I wasn't comfortable with R20's limits on uploading, since I do a LOT of my own maps.

IMHO 4e is way better than 5e.
