Could someone explain Library set side bar options

This may be an error or I may be completely confused about the working of this functionality

When Library module is loaded in Unity D&D 5e, there are two buttons GM and Play

I assume that when GM is clicked those modules selected with be visible on the side bar for the GM screen

Similarly when Play is clicked those modules will appear in the players view of the game.

    Is this correct?

This doesn't control modules, it controls which buttons are available in the sidebar. These are just commonly used collections of buttons. With the sidebar visible, click GM then Play and see the buttons shown change.

You should also note you don't have to use the presets either, you can modify the buttons to what you want, ie I typically use GM but for a fully prepared area I don't need the quest or items buttons so I just uncheck it individually. You can also click on any of the small buttons in the top of the library pane to open up whatever the would be attached to the button if it was on the sidebar.

For example I don't normally keep "Spells" available as GM because I normally get the info off a link on the character sheet or NPC sheet, but every once in a while, mostly for traps or magic fountains, altars, pools - if a PC casts detect magic I'll use the top pane "Spell" button to bring up the "Spells" dialog and search for a similar spell.

Great that explains a lot, I thought play was the player view.

The play retains its values when you close and open a session in Fantasy Grounds, but its a shame it doesn't retain its values if you press GM, All or Create PC. Not a big issue

    Thanks

I don't understand what you mean by 'doesn't retain its values'. Can you expend on what you mean by that?
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

I click PLAY, and turn the first three options on, ie Backgrounds, Encounters and Investigator. If I click PLAY again these are lost and they return to their defaults

I went via GM before but clicking PLAY seems to restore defaults and ignore my changes

    Hope this helps

This is correct behaviour. These buttons are commonly used collections. They don't allow you to customise what each button does.

Thanks, I interpreted their use in the completely wrong way
