    improvised weapons

    Hi everyone,

I would like to know if there is a way to handle improvised weapons. Do I have to write an entry somewhere on the weapon's sheet ?

    thank you

Create a weapon entry on the PC sheet, or use an existing one, then apply a -2 item penalty to the attack roll (you can do this via an effect).

Then have a weapon entry (or a similar one that has the same damage parameters) and roll that.

If it's something a PC is using for more than just a couple of attacks, then it might be worth adding it as a manually created weapon. Otherwise, I'd probably handle it pretty manually. It would also depend on the GM if any proficiency was relevant - probably determined if the improvised weapon is very similar to an existing weapon. A new archetype in the APG suggests that you can gain proficiency with improvised weapons...

the best way to deal with improvised weapons, if it is a one of attempt to use something then probably just roll a attack dice manually from below the chat and add the appropriate attack bonus. and then select an appropriate dice/s for the damage from the dice pool and again add any modifiers. if it hits just manually adjust the wounds on the combat tracker

if the item is to used for more than one combat/session then you might want to have it added onto the weapons list

Another trick is to add a Weapon Entry for it, with the appropriate modifiers, then when done simply "unequip" it but leave it there. When you use Combat mode, it won't show up and clutter up the actions tab, but it'll be there waiting in case it comes up again ready for use and/or modification.

The proficiency issue is an interesting question because it's easy to argue they are simple weapons similar to, say, clubs, daggers, etc., but if the AGP is going to do some sort of official improvised weapon group, that might alter things.

I haven't seen it myself, but I know the APG has an "improvised weapons specialist" archetype.
