You can check the player logs to see what kind of connection they are getting.

Without the logs, we won't be able to investigate any connection issues.

So some background info: Several weeks ago I was having issues with my players not receiving images, they were having all kinds of issues trying to load modules and such. It had turned out that there was an issue with my modem which my ISP finally got around to replacing this week.

Since they replaced the modem, things seemed to work better so far, even general internet usage was faster and smoother. One of my players tested things out earlier today, he said everything was working and in fact everything loaded fast and smoothly, i was able to push new images to him and he could open modules with ease.
Now the new player comes along and is stuck trying to download the files, and cannot get past loading the files. We checked and we are both running the same version (FGU v4.0.10).
This could be just purely incidental; but I have the ultimate license, the player who had no issues earlier today also has the ultimate license, the new player who is trying to connect to me only has the demo/free license.

I have provided the logs on my side as the host and the player's side as the client.

Any ideas on what is causing this? Is it still networking issues on my side?

The client and host logs do not appear to be pulled at the same time, though it's hard to tell exactly. (Exact log compilation from exact same time helps to alleviate comparison of network events.)
I couldn't see anything in the logs preventing the player from connecting.

    Some more questions:
    * Can the player connect to any other games? (We can coordinate a test, if needed.)
    * Can other players connect to your GM client? (same)
    * What exactly does the screen look like for the player when they fail to connect?

    Thanks,
    JPG

Earlier today one of my other players was around and we tested it and it worked just fine.

After letting it sit there trying to load the new player finally got into my server, but he does not see any images that I load up, more is there any modules for him to load.

I have the server running right now you should easily be able to find it if you look for my username "lordnova2".

I did a quick test with a connection to LordNova2.

I could get in fine. Comparing my console.log file to SilverDragun's - I get past the initial download of the client ruleset, extensions, module list, etc. OK, but it looks like SilverDragun never completes this - and about 5 minutes later gets the CHINR messages - I think we need to devs to look into what that might mean.

    My console.log:

This is the first step in the client downloading data from the GM. I could connect fine, so it doesn't appear to be anything on the GM side.

Some info from the devs on the CHINR message may help. But I'm guessing that this is some kind of networking/security limitation on the players side stopping the download of that data.

Just logged in; and didn't have any problems as I mentioned.

It sounds like there is an issue with the player side of the connection. Like something is blocking or throttling the connection on their router or security software.

So it is most defiantly a communication issue as Moon Wizard stated this is a communications issue.
It is strange that some people have problems and others do not, which makes this problem hard to trace down.

Trenloe had no issue connecting to the me and downloading the campaign data, neither does one of my regular players. Moon Wizard seemed to connect just fine without issue, but no real testing was done. My two regular players and the new player are all still having issues with connecting and/or downloading the modules and campaign data. And these issues are at varying degrees, the new player can connect and make a new character sheet, he can roll dice and even type thing sin on the chat box, however he does not see any rolls or chats made by others, he has issues loading modules and assets.
Strangely the other players who have issues can still see messages in the chat.

Last weekend I was able to connect to someone else game that they were hosting without any issues, even played a full session with them and the other two regular players I am. So connecting as a player I did not have much of an issue.

There is one player who is over in Belgium who has no issue at all, but all the other regular players who are state-side do have some sort of issue. The only thing I can think of that would possibly be different is that he is on an IPV6 network.
I see that FGU shows an IPV4 and IPV6 address for me, but now that I am paying attention I see that it is giving me and internal IP of 192.168.157.1, which I believe is the internal IP given to my modem within my ISP’s network, however my PC has the IP of 192.168.1.74 which is given to me by my router. My router is showing the WAN IP as 192.168.57.1, and that should be (or use to be) the same as my external IP which is 100.42.84.13.
This is looking to me to be a janky settings within my ISP’s hardware/network causing these problems. We were on the start of fixing/dressing this issue several weeks back when the tech had me restart the modem and then I completely lost internet connection. So at the time we wrote it off as being the results of a faulty modem.

The only thing I can think of that was changed prior to these issues was that we had upgraded our speed package. This was all brought about with some hardware change made around that time to a tower which opened up faster speed packages to my area. One of the things, for whatever reason, I had to have for opening up ports was a static IP from my ISP, and with the update of the hardware we got a call from my ISP telling them to call them back, and it was to notify us of our new IP address.
With hat said we had played one session after the hardware and speed package was upgraded, and everything seemed to go just fine until we had to load a new map for an encounter…

We will have to see what Monday brings when I talk to my ISP tech support.

Maybe we should try to schedule a test when we have multiple people who we know have worked before all join and try to do some "gaming" activities. See if this is an issue with multiple connections.

Also, make sure that you ISP is not applying some sort of Advanced Security option that may be blocking connections from certain locations. (such as Comcast Advanced Security)

Tonight I had 1 player disconnect, 1 player's map image going black (while image window was resized, same player as last weeks), 1 player clicking on Action spell effect without it being applied and 1 player double-clicking to hit/attack without a roll happening. All of them provided me with logs. Just tell me where to upload them.

I specifically used a direct/LAN connection today instead of the cloud. Next time I will disable IPv6 completely for testing.
