Fantasy Grounds Classic crashes often after Win10 upgrade

After the upgrade from Win 7 64bit to Win 10 my FGC keeps crashing randomly. The only sure thing I know about the crash is, that the crash only happens, when I come back from another window (browser, Teamspeak or a completely different App) to the Fantasy Grounds window.

I already tried the following hints, I got from others having crash-issues:
    • Re-Install FGC completely (deleting the old files before)
    • Reducing the Tokens to a minimum
    • Checking the Task Manager (always below 500MB)
    • Checking the event Manager ( [ Name] Application Error, EventID 1000, [ Qualifiers] 0, Level 2, Task 100, Keywords 0x80000000000000, EventRecordID 6559)
    • uninstalling the game cam stuff (xbox) coming with win 10 upgrade
    • tried to run as administratior and in compatibility mode

Running Fantasy Grounds only does not crash at all. This only happens when changing the window for a second, or longer (checking a pdf, discord or whatever), and coming back to FGC. It doesn't crash every time changing the window, which makes it really hard to reproduce (e.g. while writing this, i jumped back and forth into FGC and it didn't cras at all now for 20 min, while it crashed twice yesterday within 5 minutes, after using the snipping tool each time), nevertheless it can be really annoying during a game session, when you really need to look up something in the web or a pdf.

The Crash happens no matter which ruleset I use and after the re-installation I tried to run it without any new tokens, extensions, mods or rulesets apart from those coming with the installer (and update).

Does anyone of you have an idea what to try next (apart from re-installing Win 10 completely... would be a lot of work, since fgc is the only app doing that)?

I would reinstall your graphic drivers. If they are latest, try going back a couple months/builds to see if they exhibit this behavior.

Also, if you check your system event logs, do they have any messages? That might help us give better direction.

That did the job! Installed a new graphics driver and now there is no more crash since about 4 hours of extensive usage (and window-hopping).

    Thank you very much!

EDIT: Unfortunately I was wrong... the crashes came back (see below)

Bad News: The Crash came back today.

The new graphics driver seems to improve the situation, but didn't completely heal it...

Attached the crash report created by the windows event manager. Any more ideas?

New information on the crash: I can provoke it by repeatedly starting and closing FGC.
Latest at the 4th loop FGC crashes either directly at the start or when closing the window.

It still sounds like a graphics driver issue. FGC uses DX9; and the graphics library has not been updated in a very long time.

You are probably right. Installed DirectX 9 now and it increased the number of loops (Opening and closing FGC) to 6-7 until it crashes. Hopefully this is stable enough to play again... will see that tomorrow.

Anyway, thanks for your thoughts and help!
