Nope, all or nothing. I would venture a guess that the request is in light of the Death Indicators extension? If so, might I recommend taking a look at CoreRPG Wound Overlay to use alongside the new UI included in Constitutional Amendments.

EDIT: Ignore me. I don't know what happened that first time, but this problem hasn't happened again. It's worked properly on various tests since I requested this.
It might have gotten confused by NPCs that were already on the combat tracker the first time the update loaded. Glad its working now though!

Nope. I already use the wound overlay (very nice ext, btw). For me, since by RAW, normal creatures are dead at 0 hp and do not get saves, it seems having them rolling is not the normal way of play. I will just be sure to clean them off the CT before the next round. Thanks for the response!

Fun fact: RAW literally doesn't exist for this, there actually is no rule on monsters making death saves one way or the other. It is simply stated that most DMs have a monster die instantly when it hits 0 HP (PHB 168). Which sort of implies that the default rule is that they do. Except it then goes on to say that important NPCs might be an exception, which sort of implies that instant death is the rule. Neither is outright stated though.

In absence of RAW to the contrary, I figure its pretty benign to have an automated death save in the event that the creature isn't removed when reduced to zero HP.

I appreciate the reference and outlining the overall conflicting information. I can't image a player's dealing with a group of opponents all in various states of death for very basic monsters. The battle field logistics would really bring the combat to a crawl. This will keep me on my toes of keeping the CT clean either way.

Death Indicators has an option on the NPC sheet to tag those NPCs as "Important." Additionally, there is an option to only have "Important NPCs" roll Death Saves. NPCs without the tag die the moment they hit 0 HP, but I don't always want that to happen and I like the option.

I would also throw my hat in that having an option to de-flag creatures from having death saves would be preferable. Regardless of RAW interpretation, it's something people tend to run across the board, and the option to keep that without thinking about death saves for NPCs would be a small but important quality of life improvement. It's not something that's make-or-break though.

But you don't have to use npc death saves it just there if you want to.

That's why I noted it was only as big as a quality of life issue. Being able to remove extra clutter you wouldn't use from the NPC sheets would be nice, but it's not really that important. I suppose this is in large because we see this functionality with the "important NPC" checkbox from another extension, and shows it could be implemented. At the end of the day, it's not a big deal either way.

Agreed that it can be worked around. It still effects you if you use auto death saves they trigger on npcs that are dead and still on the CT.
