Out of game Character editing
How do you edit a character that has been exported after the DM closes the campaign?

Hi Grzeth, welcoome to FG.
You would import the character into FG as a first step. In both Classic and Unity (you don't say which) start a campaign and then click on the PC button. Click on the blue import button and navigate to the file that your DM gave you. Click on it to import into FG. You will then be able to edit the character. If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

After the player makes their changes, in order for that character to be playable again does the GM have to import the character back in to the server or can the player join the game using their local version of their character?

The changed character would need to be imported into the DMs campaign via the import feature on the join screen. Or send the file to the DM to import.
