My friends in person get a little upset if I try to do that haha, they're attached to their characters and want to save the sheet for memories

As a DM, way back in the day, I used to confiscate KIA'ed PC sheets and rename them for use as NPC's. Hopefully before the PC's ripped them up into little pieces.
