    PFS2 #1-03: Escaping the Grave SUN March 22nd @ 1 PM UTC

Be aware the current health situation unfortunately causes some unavoidable unpredictability (Internet bandwidth, ...) and may also cause this game to fill up rather rapidly.

Some UTC offsets may have changed recently (USA, Canada, ...)!

To clarify: This scenario uses the new PF2 rules and will be run as a Pathfinder Society scenario.

Please schedule around 4 1/2 hours for the game (a bit more if there are several new players).

    Character creation in PFS2.

Quite a lot of character options in newer books just became PFS2 legal

If this is your first PFS2 game on this particular character, I will need to know your Paizo Organized Play #, your character #, your faction and your current gold (after character creation). You can either put it in the notes tab or send it to me some other way (see below).

If you already played this character, please send me your last chronicle sheet so I know the information mentioned above as well as chronicle #, reputation, XP and fame.

I can have the server up for you to build your character either UTC weeknight evening or possibly on the weekend (though be aware not all books are on FG yet).

If you need a pregen please notify me in advance!

In your own interest, make sure the party is somewhat balanced level-wise.

If you can, please try to send me your character 24 hours before the game so I can review any relevant rules.

    About the scenario:

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–4 (Subtiers 1–2 and 3–4).

The Whispering Tyrant has escaped Gallowspire and ravaged the lands of Lastwall. Although the nation managed to evacuate many civilians, there are still refugees, Pathfinders, and irreplaceable cultural treasures trapped in this undead-ridden realm known as the Gravelands. The PCs are part of the Society's efforts to infiltrate these dangerous lands, rescue the Pathfinders missing in action, and recover what historical texts and treasures they can. Just be quick! Every hour behind enemy lines increases the chance a nearby army learns of the PCs' mission.

    Technical details:

We will use Fantasy Grounds (I have an Ultimate license) and Teamspeak.

    Steps before the game:

Make sure to both apply here as well as in the game calendar, stating which character you'd like to play.

If you apply, make sure you send me your previous chronicle sheet of the character you want to apply this chronicle to (if you already have any chronicle sheet) either here or on Discord (Fantasy Grounds channel). If it is your first PFS2 game, I'll at least need your Paizo Organized Play # and your faction.

If you haven't already, also make sure to either build the character on FG yourself (and send it to me) or log in early enough so you can do so on game day.

Make sure you have updated Fantasy Grounds.

FG alias and Teamspeak server can be found under GM announcements in the game calendar.

    Some boilerplate clarifications:

Please apply on the FG forums on both the game calendar as well as in the game thread (if multiple household members are playing, one person per household is sufficient). First, it's easier to tell how many spots are already filled that way. Second, the other players (as well as the GM) know what level and class to expect from your character (if you don't know yet, simply state TBD). Third, you'll get notified about any updates if you post in the game thread (at least about the first one). Fourth, it allows the GM to determine who applied first should it become relevant. Some exceptions might apply.

Also, please be sure to check the thread for new messages occasionally. You don't have to check each and every day or every few hours but please make sure to reply to any posts that do concern you in time. Should you remain unresponsive, I'll give the spot to a player that applied after you (as I won't know whether you are still interested in participating or not). Exceptions might apply, e.g. if you state beforehand that you won't be able to respond due to traveling.

If you apply but don't show up or drop out during the game without notice, in future games I might also give preference to other players who have a better track record of showing up. I am aware though that life and technical problems can always happen, so don't worry if you have a valid reason though.

These rules are not in place to prevent players from playing but in fact to enable players willing to play to actually do so. It's frustrating if I have to turn down players if it turns out they would in fact have been able to play.

I have played this one at a con already, and probably a few more times since, so if there are any new players who need my spot, I will give it up to them. I will make a new character for this one in any case.

This will be my first time playing an organized society scenario.

Be aware that I don't think that this is a repeatable scenario.

Yes, I was afraid of that, I just did not know if that meant just meant no play with the same character, or if I can play with a new character.

    I just double-checked:

"Most scenarios are designed to be played once. You can receive a Chronicle sheet for a given adventure twice: once for playing the adventure and once for running the adventure as a GM—even if you run the adventure multiple times, though each time you GM an adventure contributes to your GM glyph rating and rewards. The following are the several exceptions in which a player can replay an adventure (or a GM can receive a Chronicle sheet more than once).

Glyph Replay (player and GM): A campaign participant who has received one or more GM glyphs as a result of running adventures can earn credit for an adventure an additional time, either as a player or as a GM. A participant can replay one such adventure per glyph earned. Future rewards could allow participants to use their earned glyphs additional times to replay in this way.

Minimum Table Size (player): You can replay an adventure in order to help a group reach the minimum legal table size of three players.

Notify the GM: Inform the GM that you have already played the adventure or run it as a GM. Although a GM should endeavor to be flexible when accommodating you in order to form a table of at least three players, the GM maintains the right to deny running the adventure for you if they feel uncomfortable running the event for players who have foreknowledge of the story.

No Spoilers: When you are replaying an adventure, avoid spoiling the adventure’s plot or using insider information to affect gameplay. Doing so can be grounds for the GM to remove you from the table. In general, be mindful in separating player knowledge from character knowledge, and if you are uncertain how to proceed, speak privately with the GM to determine the best course of action.

Rewards: When you replay to help create a legal table, you do not earn any rewards. The GM should provide you a Chronicle sheet that grants no rewards (including gold pieces, Experience Points, Fame, Reputation, and boons). However, do record any items expended or gold spent on the Chronicle sheet. This is an exception to the restriction that you should never assign more than one copy of a Chronicle sheet to a given character.

Repeatable Tag (player and GM): Some adventure have the Repeatable tag, which indicates that adventure grants a Chronicle sheet and rewards each time it is played or run. However, a particular character still can’t receive credit from a given repeatable scenario more than once."

So yes, even in PFS2 unfortunately only once.

Welcome to the game kpmyers1964. If this is the first time playing an organized society scenario then you are in luck! Likely this means you have a brand new character that you are not quite attached to yet. This is good, because for some reason Stephane the GM has the world Fantasy Grounds record for highest average rolls and most crits against character players, and not just because he GM's the most games of anyone I know. My recommendation is not to give a character you are playing at Stephane's table a name until s/he lives through at least two or three scenarios. Characters with names are a lot harder on the soul to see killed at Stephane's table than those that have not been named yet. Looking forward to playing at the virtual table if I am allowed to play this one.

OK, let me know if you need a player to make the table legal, although I am sure you will have enough players for this one in any case. You can also call upon me for last minute if anybody bows out last minute or does not show up and you need an extra warm body to roll crits against.

    Alright, thanks!

The previous post is an exaggeration however That being said, I would still suggest to play this particular scenario smart.
