    Graphically Heavy

    Hi team FGU,

This past Friday I tested FGU with my home game (two cpu's and a HD TV). The licence player laptop was maxed out graphically. My friend asked me if there was any option within the software to reduce the demand from FGU graphically since we were experiencing a bit of lag on dragging tokens (mouse or arrow keys) and when moving the window image tabs around or the map within the winfow. My cpu (DM) is a recent purchase with a very powerful system so there are no issues on my end. The connection is local and my internet speed varies between 500 to 800 mega bits. I have Bell Fibe.

    Any suggestions?

Yea, don't use such large images. Just because a 64 bit application can use hundreds of gigs of RAM, doesn't mean its actually practical to use hundred of gigs of RAM.

Until performance with FGU is optimized, stick to using FGC image size recommendations. If you refuse to do that, then actively and aggressively manage what images are shared with the PCs. Unshare every image and map when it is not in use and when using large images expect poor performance.

EDIT: Note, I don't mean any of this in a 'cranky' way. I just mean that FGU has not yet been optimized for performance, so you need to keep things in check.

Great point. However this is a pre-made 5E module (Tomb of Annihilation). Not sure what they are set at. I'd have to redraw the grid to see.

You don't give the specifications of thee laptop. Laptops generally don't have the capabilities of a desktop PC so if it is maxing out the graphics card in the laptop is probably somewhere close to its limits. Depending on what the graphics card is I would assume that the user can reduce some of the settings for Fantasy Grounds Unity.

And most of the ToA maps are less that 1Mb but there are a few between 1 and 2Mb
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

Any graphical adjustments would need to be made on the laptop using whatever software comes with the laptop to adjust the graphic settings for progarms running on the laptop (if there is such a thing at all). Tthere are no settings in FG that you can make or change.

Okay.. that is what i figured. It's an Nvida card. I'd have to check with my friend. He's more knowledgable in that area being a computer analyst and tech specialist.

    Thank Z

Occasionally I have seen Nvidia use an integrated graphics card instead of the available nvidia card. You might have your friend check that within the Nvidia control panel. You can often set the default and also override it on a per program basis.

Thanks Doug, I'll definitely have him check that out.

I'm using an RTX 2070 super with 64 gigs of DDR4 RAM and a Ryzen 12 core CPU. I'm also experience extreme lag on moving and resizing windows. This also is apparent when dragging and dropping tokens. I also find that the interface will just occasionally lock up as well. Is this an issue with the "Tomb of Annihilation" release? I have run much larger and heavier maps on my home brew adventures without this problem.
