    Idea for calculating grid width when not aligned to specific pixel width.

    I don't know if there is a way to do this in Fantasy Grounds, but if we had a way to select the first grid line and the last grid line and then enter in the number of boxes between those two grid lines then we would be able to calculate a grid width that works.

    If the height and width are wrong, if we could click on top left corner, and bottom right corner and say how many rows and columns there are between those two corners then a width and height could be calculated.

    Normally when using a VTT I edit/resize maps to make the grid align to an whole number myself, but being able to do this might make importing maps faster.

    Wellcome to FG.

    You can set the FG grid to anything you want by typing the size into the boxes. It will take decimal points as well, and the width and height don’t need to be the same. So setting a grid to a baked in grid on a map is much easier than in Classic.

    Yup, I noticed they could be different, and I also noticed that there were different shapes as well. I was just hoping for a way to calculate what the width should be because when it isn't an integer but a decimal value it is harder to determine what it should be.

    On the grid tab there is a button to set the grid with the mouse - if you have something you can use to define one square, you can use this to draw over it to set the grid.

    If you don't, but you know the image (or something in the image) should be a certain number of squares tall and wide, you can use this to select the whole image and once the grid size is set you just divide the number FG comes up with by the number of squares.

    That sounds like a good idea. The only draw back I see is that on bigger maps you would not be able to be as precise because you have to zoom out too far but this should still get you really close by drawing one square or rectangle around the whole thing then do the math yourself.

    I do agree another way to set the grid would be great. For instance, be able to select two points on the map that are ten grids over and ten grids down and then let FG figure it out would be nice for some maps.

    Thanks Lord entrails. Just added it to the wish list and credited you for the idea to add it to the wishlist. Title is New way to set square grid (but I really meant rectangle).
