    Woot! Happy days!

  2. #432
I am having trouble getting FG to connect, and I've been trying several of the things suggested, but something has happened and tracert is showing something completely new.

I'm on a Windows 10 machine. My computer's ip address is 192.168.0.118, and that's what shows in FG. Tracert 8.8.8.8 had originally shown this as the first address in the list, but I have changed something so now the first address in tracert is 67.231.220.26.

I'm not sure how this change occurred. Any ideas as to what I might have changed to cause this?

    Thanks

    Welcome Guennina

firstly only port forwrd - not port trigger - and only port forward tcp1802 for fgc and udp1802 for fgu
second your tracert shows a whole bunch of private IP addresses and your ISP advertises your IP address as a shared address

    inetnum: 93.36.160.0 - 93.36.175.255
    netname: FASTWEB-PAT
descr: Infrastructure for Fastwebs main location
descr: PAT POOL for residential customer POP 4101, public subnet
    country: IT
    admin-c: IRSN1-RIPE
    tech-c: IRSN1-RIPE
    status: ASSIGNED PA
    mnt-by: FASTWEB-MNT

You could try and contact your ISp and tell them you have a hoe security system and it needs an IPv4 address to work. they may give you one. otherwise you should look at the Port Forwarding Alternatives thread.

    1. Your LAN IP Address
    For DLINK DIR-859 HW:A3 router: LAN IP = 192.168.0.1
    2. The first two sets (octects) of your WAN IP as displayed by Fantasy Grounds and as displayed by your Router
    FG internal = 198.168.0.118, external = 198.2.79.134

    6. Post the results of the tracert 8.8.8.8 command (if you have security concerns you can remove this bit once its been responded to)

    Hi Paul_L

Based on what you have posted there I think that Port Forwarding should work or should be able to work.
As the next test do you have another computer in the house? Can you install a FG demo client there and try to connect to the GM computer on 192.168.0.118?
That will give us a better idea if its router or computer that is messing up.
    Also reboot your router.

I can connect to the GM computer through another computer on my network.

Please confirm answers to #2 with screenshot and # 7 with screenshot. Did you reboot the router at all?
