In today's session, the Journey to the Narrows of the Grey Mountains began, with the Companions and their caravan staying at the last wayside inn of the Northern Dalelands for a final night of cheer and warmth. Elven lady Nemir's music is appreciated only by the Barding lord Saxulf, a quiet and observant man who complemented her playing and showed interest in Elven verse. Was his interest mere politeness, or something more? In the meantime Beli struck up a friendship with the innkeeper Vali and arranged to have a load of fine-cut building stone delivered, at his expense, to improve the inn.

The caravan pressed on from there, getting caught in a storm of grit and dust blowing in on a cold wind from the Withered Heath. Both scouts made it back only just in time, and at last led the caravan to shelter in narrow ravine. But the next day, the Look Out, Nemir, spotted to wargs prowling towards the road. An ambush was laid to draw the dangerous creatures away from the baggage, and by the end of it, not two, but seven wargs lay slain. Beli and the Beran, a Beorning of the Mountains took pains to foil pursuit by covering the caravan's tracks.

Next time: already some Companions feel fatigue, and one is weary from battling the cruel and cunning wargs. The journey will continue, but can a caravan of nine souls and a dozen ponies travel quietly and safely? Can they find, in the vast wild, old enemies and lost legends when their search is based on rumors and one eyewitness whose only information came from glimpses caught over his shoulder while fleeing in panic?

Further trials have taken their toll on the company and all but the young elf, Nemir, are weary. The company follow the signs of the lost caravan, discovering a long dead pony and dwarf. Having laid the dwarf to rest, the company follows the trail as it leads up into the mountains. Further signs of the lost caravan are found with some broken and abandoned goods. No signs of goblins, but another encounter with a troll. This time not all of the company find a hiding place before discovery. Our spokesman, the eloquent lakeman Achenar, distracts the troll - allowing the company to attack.

Luck is with the company and the troll is defeated without any major wounds or deaths. The man of Dale, Lifstan, takes the brunt of the troll's ire and is brought close to the limits of his endurance. After a brief rest, the company continues their search.

Overnight, a goblin scout spies on the camp and is discovered. Beldan gives chase and runs down the creature, a pale and spindly form.

A second troll stomps past the company as it's members hide in the undergrowth. Beli takes a wound as his foot becomes wedged between two rocks. Once danger passes, the search continues. The aged veteran, Beldan, scouts the way ahead and discovers a cave entrance with small tracks leading in and out. Signs of a goblin lair.
Using Ultimate license - that means anyone can play.

The company explore a goblin tunnel, fighting salamanders and goblins, narrowly evading the returning party of goblins through stealth and distraction from setting the caged animals that were found in the dead-end where the first batch of goblins were found.

They crawled through an ice tunnel to a large, open area with treasure laid out neatly on tables, seemingly long abandoned. While Beldan looked for a way out, Lifstan and Beli were lured to the treasure, packing it into chests to take with them. Achernar and Nemir explored further in and found a sarcophagus and, giving into her lure of secrets, Nemir opened it to find a dead lady in a white dress, surrounded by bridal ornaments and trinkets, as well as a banner in the colours of Old Dale, and a stag sculpture. Achernar, with the lure of power guiding him, picked up the banner and before he could take the stag, Nemir picked the stag up, examining it.

They returned to the main hall and Nemir told the rest that it was a burial chamber, setting the stag sculpture down. Before they could do much though, a spectural figure came down from where the sarcophagus was, pointed a finger to Nemir and screeched...

Hi Dolarhyde, it’s right here: https://www.fg-con.com/events/the-on...lgrimage-home/

If you or others are interested in playing we can accommodate you...although we have six players we can add a seat or two and sometimes there are cancellations. If you do join there may be interesting continuity plot lines since this is a prequel to our main storyline.

Yeah, I think I’d like to play if there’s room. No sweat if not though.

Are we starting an hour earlier than usual this week? Or is it a result of transitioning to standard vis a vis daylight savings times?

Should be back to normal on both sides of the pond. To remove any confusion, however, see this link: https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclo...9&p1=3919&ah=3
