I am considering purchasing some additional materials. Let's use Ultimate Magic as an example. If I create a character using classes and spells from that book, can I export it and import it into someone else's hosted game, even if they don't have Ultimate Magic?

Can I share my materials with the DM during the game, if he doesn't have it? How does that work?

I’ll address your questions in reverse order, as the second affects the first.

A player can't share material they own with the GM. The GM must own the product to be able to access the data, or share it with other players who don’t already own the material.

You can use a character created with data from a module in a GMs campaign where that module is not available. Most of the data is copied to the character sheet - with the exception of the links to race and class, clicking those links won’t work. But, that is just reference text, all the other data will be available for access - spells, weapons, abilities/feats, etc..

Also - the GM can "allow" you to access resources you own that she doesnt.
