Advice from mappers on how to modify City of Phlan map for my personal use?

I am using this map to give players an idea of Phlan layout.
Edit: oops forgot to put link to map:
    City of Phlan (c1480)

I'd like to remove the Location Key and if can cleanly (doubt it at my skill level) the letters themselves in the town. But the Key would be a great start.

I have Paint.net and Gimp on my PC. I've used neither beyond loading it up is there some highlight area then paste with some sort of "merging" to smooth it out?

Also, is there any HowTo page or other tutorials on how to convert these sort of maps in the future when I get more Skillz?

    Thanks in advance

One method to remove the key, is to take a surrounding "clean" area and use it to paint over the key.

Using Gimp. Make sure you watch the dialog box on the botton of the screen. Gimp will tell you what it wants you to do.

Zoom in to an appropriate scale.

    Tools>Paintingtools>Clone

Select the area that you want to use as the clean area (note you can adjust the size of your virtual pen).

Click and mouse over the area you want to cover.

Note, that the source of the coverup moves as you proceed. So your source might wander onto an unclean area.

What seycyrus describes is shown in Xorn's excellent video here: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/filel...rescale-1a.wmv From 2:50 onwards. It's not using GIMP, but the process is exactly the same using the GIMP clone tool.

Jeez, that's a helpful little video. Thanks for the link young Trenloe.
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

For further Xorn tutorials, see the "General Tutorials" -> "Tutorial Series" section in the Wiki videos page: https://www.fantasygrounds.com/wiki/index.php/Videos

The videos have been around for a while, but most of the principals still apply.
