Dark Mansion (6 Inch Map Tiles)

    Hello folks,
I'm working on a set of 6 inch square map tiles for release via DriveThruCards.com and I am scratching my head over something that has troubled me for a while for static printed media. How best to depict trees and tree trunks?

With a birds eye view you see the canopy of the tree and not much else. But when gaming you want to know where the tree trunk is for those instances when you want to use the trunk of a tree for cover. But the trade off is that whatever marker you put in place to demonstrate the tree trunk, disrupts the tree canopy artwork.

So I wonder what most people think... do you prefer to have the canopy without any trunk markings, or do you want the trunk marked in some way?

I'd vote "without" unless you are playing a tactical board game in which exact measurements are important.

Nice art and tokens, as always.

I prefer the birds eye view. I know others who prefer the trunks. If you go trunks then a shadow for the canopy would be good I feel. If you go canopy perhaps you could in some way indicate the trunk with an outline or a darker shade?

Definitely without tree trunk markings; would spoil the look of the artwork which is excellent.
If there is something that you would like to see in Fantasy Grounds that isn't currently part of the software or if there is something you think would improve a ruleset then add your idea here https://www.fantasygrounds.com/featu...rerequests.php

Yup, I was not keen on marking the tree trunks. So I have left the markings out.

Here is a sneak peek at the cover art for the cover card that will be on the top of the Map Tiles deck of cards. Displays a sample layout of map tiles to make a Mansion building. Each tile should have a different design of rooms on the flip side of each card.

Hhmmm.... I am now wondering if I should put grid lines on the grass tiles... The tiles depicting the inside of the building don't really need grid lines as the floor pastern does a pretty good job of outlining the grid. Although inside the rooms with a carpet floor you lose the effect...

Just released the digital downloadable version of the Dark Mansion, the printed cards version will come a little later as we are waiting to get a copy of the printed version for review (so we know it looks the way it should).

You can find info about this project here.

We just received our print proofs in the mail and we are very pleased with how the Dark Mansion Map Cards have turned out. Here are two sample map cards for you to peek at, plus here is a video of the unpacking of the map cards!

I thought I might give this a bit of a bump to let everyone know who is interested, that I've released another set of Map Cards!! This time the set is of a small cultist shrine and a set of underground chambers and passageways for players to explore.

Here is me unboxing my print proofs to make sure everything is fine. Maybe next time I'll open it on a flat surface and not be slanted sketching table?
