How do you GMs handle a PC's request to Ready an Action within the Combat Tracker?
Greetings,
I don't see any mechanism in the CT for handling Readied Actions. How do you all manage that?
Thanks.

p.s.
The search function within this forum does not appear to recognize a syntax for ANDing search strings... I don't see any notes on the subject (on either the Advanced Search page, or the General Forum Usage page's "Searching Forums and Threads" section), and I also experimented by performing the following searches in an attempt to make that happen:
"ready an action"
+ready +action
ready + action
ready AND action
and none of them returned the desired result.
It is also a little disappointing that the literal string search, "ready an action" results in an ORed search on the 3 terms: 'ready', 'an', and 'action'...
?

search is borked. look at the last menu option - Site Search and use that.
Ready/Hold an Action is for Gm and Player to manage manually.

That's kinda what I figured (regarding the Readied Action question). I went ahead and asked the question, primarily, because of the failure of the search to perform what I wanted.
I will give the Site Search a try.
Thanks!

I've never really understood the 'google search' feature when it's included as an option on a website. What is the underlying mechanism in play there? Is it, essentially, the same as going out to google, and entering:
"ready an action" site:www.fantasygrounds.com/forums
??
(I just tried that, and the results are similar)
Also, am I correct to infer that, since a specific forum within the Fantasy Grounds forum site is referenced, I assume, via a database call, that there is no semantic on the google search line that will limit the search to a particular sub-forum?
Anyway, thanks, very much, for your help!

you can see more info on the Site Search here: https://www.google.com/cse/all
you can add some bias or flavour to your searches - so similar to your link but not exactly the same...

In a live game I use index card for initiative so it was easy to just turn a card sideways so it stuck up and was noticeable when a player had a readied action or delayed. In FG I made public effects 'Readied Action' and 'Delayed' for the players to use when they wish to do either action. It's not as easy for the GM to remember that someone is readied, but I constantly scan the combat tracker so I am reminded fairly often.
Another option might be to change their portrait temporarily with a custom 'readied' portrait icon. This would make it more noticeable in the CT and very noticeable in the portrait row. I haven't tried it so I don't know if there are any gotchas.I never claimed to be sane. Besides, it's more fun this way.

I put the burden on my players for this one. If they want to ready an action, they declare it then hit the end of turn button. Then they need to be responsible for interjecting when the action should go off. At that point I manually adjust their initiative and give them their action. Haven't really had any issues with this method.
