Program recommendations
Hello,
Does anyone have any recommendations for free software used to record gaming sessions on your computer. I am looking to make a video of some select game sessions to post on You Tube.
Thanks in advance

Some friends I have that do this for money use Fraps for recording. But they're going FPS and MMO game footage shooting. I'm not sure what they use for splicing the video back together though. My own experience with Fraps for VTT recording wasn't so hot, but I was hosting the video myself.
A 25 min video at 960 x 540 resolution was about 551 megs in size.
I then switched to using ALLCapture and was able to produce a 1920x1100 30 minute video that was only 382 megs.
The resolution and clarity was a lot better on the second video. It's hard to make out desktop features with compressed video showing at lower res. ALLCapture isn't cheap though
But you should be able to get the same results if the software you use can record at less than 10fps at a high res. I think I was recording at 5 and it looked solid. You don't need framerate, you need good resolution.

That's what I use when I need to record games or anything - it's free and relatively easy to use.
