How to create a Familiar ( Owl )

Hi,

My player has an owl familiar and I would like to create it and ultimately add it to the combat tracker.

How should I begin creating this? is there a video somewhere that will help?

Several ways to do this. You can just share the owl NPC with the player and enable Party Vision and Movement option, or you can create the owl as a PC and have the player control it just like a their main character (selecting te portrait to activate which is active).

There are also some extensions on the Forge that add additional functions, but I've never used any of them.

It was made fro Classic so the UI etc is a lot different but the principle is still the same in Unity except as LE points out above switch on Party Vision and Movement if you want the player to control movement.

Once you learn how this works, you have other options to make this easier for you to manage. It's good to know the vanilla base-game before adding any extensions to Fantasy Grounds Unity, but there are some handy solutions out there on the Forge and the Dm's Guild.
