- It was only a python. Pythons aren't poisonous (my ex-wife had one as a pet, as do a number of friends of mine). The worst they can do is strangle you if you're stupid enough to let them entwine around your neck. If they do bight you then you should probably get a tetanus shot, but that's about it.
