I'm nervous. Did I get everything? Are there any bugs? Especially the tab changes seemed to just magically work toward the end, so I'm worried that the tab scripts won't be loaded on another computer somehow. These last two days I've been gnashing teeth out of stress, and my cheeks hurt.
Oh, that's right: I forgot to change a few image names to prettier ones. Oh well. I'll do that later.
The sheet still has a few things to fix, but it works enough that I can take maybe a month's "vacation" now.
I can focus just on the SimplePlus theme now, which is starting to look okay now.

Update:
I've figured out that there's one way that I can make humans appreciate me: Mimicry. If I take great care to imitate another human's work, then I can hide my monstrous nature, like a chest mimic. That's why I'm taking these things so seriously, I guess.
My FG theme extension, however, doesn't really look that human. It is deliberately drained of all warmth, like a cold slab of stone. It's mostly made to look good for me.

I'm right now in the process of converting FG:s default sidebar to something... ..."prettier"?
FG:s sidebar is in my opinion the ugliest part of the default skin. The default skin has a theme that is noisy and distracting. It is there to wow users into thinking that it's cool at first glance, but it's not designed for ease of use and it's not easy on the eyes. The icons in the side bar are some sort of banners, but they're so shiny that they look like they're made out of shining metal instead of fabric, and the light is even coming from the top right instead of the top left. The drop shadow is huge, and it's so huge that it's cut off at the bottom.
That's a low bar to set for making something prettier. My icons are just a frame with a tiny drop shadow. They're not even embossed, because they're not meant to stand out. All they need to be, is readable enough, and a simple Impact Condensed font is tall enough to make it so.

I also changed the background and the chatbox. The chatbox is the last element that should have texture noise in it.

Once I've fixed all these things that's been continuously bothering me from day one, I'll finally continue exporting the sheet again.

Update:
Also those eight small buttons up top, they're so small (for some reason) so it would be more legible to make them icons, right? No, not really. You'd have to learn what those icons do - really memorize them - and the Effects button is the worst offender of them all: It's just a guy standing in a pose.
I'm doing much, much better deciphering a tiny written font, than I did with those images. I'm not afraid of that cluster of buttons anymore now.

I'm probably halfway through the layering export process, and everything is proceeding with zero problems.
I really prefer if my SimplePlus skin is used, over the default FG one, but that should be up to personal preference. Only the sheet will remain graphically altered.

Took most of the day off to consult videos about sociopathy. There is a lot of poor definitions on the subject of anti-social personality disorder, with licenced shrinks strongly confusing psychopathy with sociopathy. Some claim that sociopaths are too egocentric to be able to feel love, but I can, so maybe I'm just a-social then. I'm not a manipulative type either. I'm just torn open. I am dangerous to others and I hide it because I'm deeply ashamed of it. I hurt people, and it just feels okay for me to do that. It doesn't feel wrong. They removed that part of my brain.
...so should I feel ashamed of it, or not? Should I feel ashamed for the rest of my life, for just existing in a damaged state? Am I better off dead? Every time I eat I want to die, and yet I choose to live. Is that evil of me? Do only humans have a right to live in this world?

Update:
Just wrote a draft for a Kult adventure. Sometimes inspiration strikes.

Only the export to a separate layer is left now for the beta. It's going to be an adventure for sure, but I've took care to mark everything in preparation.

There's some kind of social trouble going on at the forums, where I'm apparently not respectful enough in my tone or something. They're still trying to hold me up to the standard of a human being, which is kind of cute. I guess I was human as a child, before they took me. The shards of all those memories of promises broken, still sting a bit as they cut. ...but with time you forget what was, and why you used to scream as they dug into your brain. ...and you stop understanding human things.

I finally made most of page 2, and made the portrait show up again.
I also aligned the front page icons, and made a scroll button.
Soon I'll be exporting my ruleset to a stand-alone layer, and ship the beta over to esmdev, but there's no rush since I'm well within schedule, so I might sneak in a few other changes here and there before that. We'll see.

Also, I must not forget fixing the attributes: Need to tag them and stuff. I also don't like that they're in color - they're too distracting.

The reason why I've been putting off layering my ruleset, is because I don't want to juggle two sets of folders at once. For example, if I search for a keyword, I want all the hits, in both the modified and the unmodified files. With a layered ruleset, I'd have to make two searches. That's why I'm exporting it as a last thing.

I like the result. I figured that there would be lots of character sheets which would have altered graphics, but if you look at The Strange character sheet, it uses the same default textures as Core RPG.
Kult's sheet has a very basic style, though: I didn't need to be that artistic about it.

Update:
Added a nice custom scrollbar, and added a nice tooltip box that's actually for my SimplePlus skin extension. Next up I'll probably see if I can do something about the multi-lines always being visible. Should probably move the close button as well, if possible, and separate it from the default one. My intention is that the character sheet shouldn't intrude on the rest of the skin.

Update #2:
Done and done. Made lines appear only while the multi-line fields are being edited. (Learned that you press Esc to make a field lose focus.) Also aligned and separated the close button.

The way that I've tackled this project, seems to be a good approach: You do what you feel that you can handle. Usually that means that you do the easy stuff and the groundwork.

...and the easy stuff isn't to be underestimated. Usually that amounts to a lot of work. I'm still not done with the easiest stuff, like creating and aligning page 2. Most people underestimate projects. They'll go "I have this amazing idea for a game, and now I just need to make it. I know how, and so it'll just take maybe a week to actually type it down.". No. Even the easy stuff takes lots of time, and if you rush things, without commenting code, it will inevitably make things harder later on. Be thorough and be methodical. Do the boringly easy stuff well and be patient. You haven't learned actual respect and humility for creators, until you've actually gone through the process of creating. It will teach you a lot about tending to detail after detail, that you just took for granted as a watcher.

...and once the easiest stuff is all done, it won't distract you when you then move on to tackle something harder. You won't fumble around in the dark as much, or encounter scenarios where you find that you really needed things to be aligned, for things to align against.

We have buried our society in so much entertainment, that its diet isn't mainly human souls any longer, but other forms of entertainment. We have created a monster like a shark, who will eat its own children, and we worship it, because we're nothing but junkies at heart.

...and so that's my case for still not working on the character sheet: I shouldn't.
What I should do, is the dishes, and clean the toilet, and eat, and lots of other things, that are actually important to my survival. ...and maybe watch more YouTube, and movies, and play all those video games I bought, "'cause daddy needs his fix".

I have a sort of deadline now, of early February, that I'm hoping to keep, despite of progress having been ground to a halt these last few days. I'm planning to get the core features in place - the second page, for example, and the layering - so that the sheet is actually usable.
...but it's not really because of that. It's because they think in ways that I can't see, and I think in ways which they can't.
Human beings get together and they sort of party. They rub off on eachother, and they make emotional bonds, and they trust. Even when you disconnect them from the whole, their pupils will wiggle about from side to side, as if they're searching for what they've lost, helplessly dependent. What's outside of humanity is just darkness to them. They are scared of getting ripped open and transformed. They're scared of even thinking outside the line - of what they'll become if they do. ...and that's why they're scared of me - "the demon".
If only they knew what really lurks here in the dark with me.

I've finally started on the labels, but it's apparently going to be complicated. If things don't work out, I know that I can at the very least finish things in an ugly way.
It's subconscious instinct: I'm "rude".
I try to behave, but I miss Inferno a lot, where being rude is the norm. I miss the hollow ones. I understand them better. I wish I could shackle one to the wall of my apartment, so that I'd have a friend to talk to.

I finally changed that chat icon, after a couple of days holding it off.
A header is also in the works. Not sure if it actually is a header, because CoreRPG doesn't show more than two deprecated pieces of code for it, and never uses it in the layout.

It's funny how GIMP doesn't allow the use of 1e1e1c as a color. It always converts it to 1e1e1e for some reason. Since I like perfect precision, this really makes me frown.

I managed christmas. Mom almost came to pieces as usual, but I just have to accept that there's nothing I can do about that. At least she treats me like a living organism, I guess, so there's that. Maybe she's going deaf, and that's why she doesn't listen to me. Maybe it's me. I don't know. Maybe I'm scaring her senseless.

There's a lot of realigning to do. That might be up next.

-

Upon closer inspection, I found out that the whole sheet is written in a font called Alverata - a popular roleplaying character sheet font. This is a commercial font that costs about $90, and the sheet uses four different variations of Alverata fonts too, so I guess I'll just settle for the Open Sans that came with Fantasy Grounds.

-

Realigned everything again, but found out that the char_frame template has some sort of offset that makes it have a minimum height. Have to fix that later, but I'm taking a break. At least the page finally doesn't look like absolute ****.
